yeah, what the subtitle says. i wasn’t planning on watching the superbowl, actually. but i watched it bc i wanted to experience the chiefs losing, no matter the odds. i think a lot of people watched the superbowl out of tradition, but i think even more people this year watched it out of spite.
and for kendrick lamar, obviously.
i’ve been thinking abt love and hate a lot, as usual. i tend to have strong emotions about things and i stand on business. but lately, i’ve been testing out this new thing where, if i am presented with something i disagree with, say something along the lines of, “okay sure” and move on. bc external things that i disagree with usually have nothing to do with me.
however, some things require strong emotions. but it’s abt discerning what is actually worth your time. i’m still learning this. i will always be learning this lol. all of this is to say that my strangely deep emotional connection to this superbowl was necessary. it was also fueled by spite and my love of astrology.
sports are ruled by leo and the sun. leo/the sun also rules entertainment, fun, the body, and one’s spirit (ego). it’s obvious that football is ruled by leo.
but then why is the biggest game of the football season during aquarius season? leo’s sister sign, mind you.
i think it’s bc aquarius rules humanity. freedom and change. aquarius can remove their ego bc they care about the greater good. and for football fans, the superbowl is the one game a year they set their affiliations aside and root for a team that isn’t their favorite. it’s no longer I want my team to win, it is We want that team to lose.
in pop astrology, aquarians are portrayed as opinionated hippies, minding their business but also being so contrarian. but let’s dig into that contrarianism a little more.
if you’re an aquarius rising, you likely have a scorpio midheaven or some of your 10th house is in scorpio. the 10th house is associated with our legacy and public image. scorpio is ruled by mars, who is anti, brash, and contrarian.
so back to my original point. in some ways, pop astro is right: aquarians are hippies! but hippies, at their core, are anti-establishment. but you know what else? they are pro-peace. and they understand that peace does not come without fighting for change. aquarians will be haters if it gets the job done.
if you don’t already know, i’m not a football fan. i care abt it socially, but not personally.
i have my teams: bills and the vikings (and 48-hour eagles fan). i say the occasional “go bills” when the time calls for it. but mostly, my engagement with football is based on vibes and the vibes surrounding the chiefs are rancid. but as i’ve said a lot in the past 12 hours, i care abt justice. the nfl has pandered to the chiefs all season and it’s nonsense.
for the amount of time, money, and energy the world puts into the nfl’s existence, the people deserve better. the people deserve a fair game. and the people got a surprisingly fair game last night.
this year’s superbowl was proof that being a hater, when used correctly, works. haters were Up last night. mahomes haters, kelce haters, haters of the current administration, swift haters, chiefs haters, drake haters, ref haters, the list goes on. i firmly believe spite won the superbowl.
fun fact: the first superbowl was a capricorn with an aquarius venus and midheaven. meaning, the superbowl should be for the people, should unite people, should be fair and just.
(the chiefs lost in the first superbowl, too.)
also. jalen hurts, this superbowl’s mvp, is a leo sun, aquarius moon. how fitting. cooper dejean, the eagles’ rookie, celebrated his birthday with a superbowl win. jake elliot had some beautiful field goals, even with flags on each one - aquarius sun. how cool is that? i’m a firm believer in There’s No Such Thing As Coincidence so this superbowl was very special to me and my aquarius heart. aquarius also rules flight. fly eagles fly <3
i could go on, but i don’t want to. i could talk abt kendrick’s halftime show, but i don’t want to. he speaks for himself. other people can and should speak more articuately abt his performance than i could. also he’s not an aquarius, so it’s beyond my scope of practice right now. but we love a fellow air sign cousin.
happy aquarius season to all of my aquarius placements. i love us. i love what we are able to achieve together.
until next time,
